October is breast cancer awareness month, which is something is near and dear to me. My mother is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed when I was 20, and I remember it being a scary time for me. It’s hard to see a parent unwell!
It’s many years later and she’s still doing great. She is one of my favorite people, and I am so thankful that she is healthy. Each October, several companies put out products to benefit breast cancer research and treatment. Here are some of our favorites:
You can never have enough water bottles, especially ones that keep your drink cold for hours on end! These types of water bottles are my absolute favorite!
I not only use them “2Go” but around the house as well. I can’t trust my 2 year old to leave a regular glass of water alone, especially one that has ice in it (she loves ice). When using this bottle, I can leave it within her reach, and not worry that she will have her hands in it or tip it over.
A quarter of your purchase goes toward breast cancer research at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute.
Look at this color of lipstick! Lip products are huge right now, and this one has a wonderful, bold color. I love the sleek packaging.
A portion of each sale goes toward The Care Project, Inc. This organization helps those undergoing and recovering from treatment get those daily necessities that may be unaffordable, due to the high cost of their medical bills.
How cute are these shoes? It’s always nice when you can give back and look stylish. I love the tonal pink stripes along the sole, and a sneaker like this is so practical.
Skiks gives a portion of every sneaker sale to Pink Zone at Penn State University, as well as The Comfort Project 360. What’s even cooler is that your own group can purchase sneakers and get a promo code to donate to your specific organization.
Did you know that we have a specific ToteSavvy affiliated with METAVivor, the only non-profit specifically for Stage IV breast cancer? What’s really wonderful is that 100% of the proceeds of this specific ToteSavvy go directly to METAVivor. Plus, it includes a really cute Kendra Beshk keychain.
It’s no secret that we love a good tote. With nine different colors to choose from, one is bound to suit your fancy. Embellish Accessories and Gifts also works with METAVivor, so you know that your money is being put to good use. A tote like this is perfect for anything - the park, the beach, daycare, or storing extra necessities in your car. All net proceeds from METAvivor merchandise support metastatic breast cancer awareness and operations.
Cosabella is known for their beautiful lingerie. They've taken it a step further by making a bralette that is perfect for post-op patients. It doesn't have underwire, has a front closure, and is soft and stretchy, making it the perfect choice for recovery.
20% of the proceeds go toward Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, a charitable initiative of the CFDA Foundation that raises funds and public awareness for breast cancer, both in the U.S. and internationally.
June Jacobs herself is a breast cancer survivor. Unimpressed with the lack of healing creams available, she set out to make her own, using high quality and natural ingredients. This cream can be used for a variety of different reasons, but it's especially wonderful to treat your skin after radiation.
During the month of October, 10% of the net proceeds from this cream will be donated to Anne Moore Breast Cancer Research Fund. In addition, 25% of net proceeds from any June Jacobs purchase will be donated to The Dublin Breast Center.
Nowadays, there are so many products you can buy that are affiliated with breast cancer. Have you bought any of those products? Which ones are your favorite?
